About Kid Sense

We turn Worry into Wonderful with playful games, passionate staff and education of parents, carers and educators.

Who Are We?

Founded in 1998 by Joanna Buttfield (Occupational Therapist), Kid Sense began with a vision to overcome life’s challenges, believing in the importance of small steps. Evolving from a single clinic, we now operate six metropolitan sites, expanding our services from clinic-based to community and direct educator interventions.

We are now Adelaide’s longest-standing private provider of paediatric Occupational Therapy, with a team of 40 experienced therapists across six metropolitan clinics. We offer clinic-based, home, and education setting services, including workshops for educators, developing screening and In- Education setting support. Our rigorous Career Change, Return to Work and Graduate programs as well as ongoing professional development ensure high clinical standards of all staff.

Our focus is on improving functional skills through personalised home/education setting recommendations to support developmental progress between appointments with a community-centered approach.

We turn Worry into Wonderful with playful games, passionate staff and education of parents, carers and educators.

Our Vision and Values

At Kid Sense, we recognise the challenges parents and educators face in today’s digital age and aim to provide support and knowledge, allowing them to feel less overwhelmed and more confident in delivering the ‘best fit’ child and young adult centered support.

We believe in holistic child development, and our approach aims to integrate therapy seamlessly into daily life, making a meaningful and functional impact beyond traditional therapy appointments.

In every interaction we ask:

how can we improve the child’s daily life, not what therapy can we offer?
