About Kid Sense Child Development

Winner of the 2017 Telstra South Australian Small Business Award, Kid Sense Child Development is a leading private provider of centre-based, multi-disciplinary paediatric allied health services to children with disabilities and developmental challenges in their movement, play, speech, language, learning, attention and behaviour.

Founded in 1998 by paediatric Occupational Therapist, Joanna Buttfield, Kid Sense operates from a purpose-built child development centre and sensory clinic in Unley, South Australia, offering both Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy services.

The oldest continually-owned provider of Occupational Therapy in South Australia, Kid Sense currently employs 15 highly qualified and accredited full-time staff – 6 Occupational Therapists, 5 Speech Therapists and 4 operations staff.  Kid Sense currently has the clinical capacity to deliver up to 28,000 client sessions per year. Since its inception over 20 years ago, Kid Sense has improved the abilities and behaviours of thousands of children, unlocking their true potential and positively shaping their lives and relationships with family.

Kid Sense invests in its staff and employs only the best practitioners.  Its systems, technology, training, resources, location, facilities and infrastructure further support the delivery of convenient, affordable and high quality multi-disciplinary care to the benefit and satisfaction of the parents, children, educators, professionals, organisations and agencies that deal with us.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) 2013 created access to a wide range of paediatric development services for many thousands of South Australian children, effectively doubling the level of public spending on disability and creating significantly-increased demand for reputable service-providers.  As an established brand, Kid Sense was one of the earliest providers to register for the NDIS and we are positioned strongly for continued growth in an evolving market.
